30 Years

December 8

These two lovely parents of mine have been married for 30 years. I feel so blessed to have been brought up in a family knowing my parents loved one another. I am proud of them. I am thankful for them. Be encouraged that love exists. Commitment exists. Love is worth it.

FondueMeandYouandYou

(Bosom Friends...*smile*)
Nothing's better than friends, fondue, and cafuffle's on a Friday night.

My friend Sophie had never seen the Anne of Green Gables movies or read the book. This fall I lent her the book, then let her watch the movies. On our second movie night, Anna, Sophie, and I decided on fondue. All sorts of stuffandnonesense went on. We had a lovely spread and stuffed our faces. Yumm-O

We had to keep all the fruit and chocolate in our oven, because of our nasty roach problem. Thankfully we FINALLY got a new dishwasher last week!! It IS a little funny.

$100,000

One day I had my 6th grade class write about having $100,000 extra. They were told they could NOT spend the money on themselves. My class wrote about what they would spend the money on and who. Most of them spent their money compassionately: homeless shelters, buying houses for their parents, and paying off bills. One student did ignore the directions saying he would buy his brother a house and then when invited over would steal the leftover money and run to the airport to fly away. At least he's thinking, right? One little boy decided he would spend his money on "Mrs. johstn" (me. I wish you could see his handwriting and the actual spelling *smile*) I will share with you what I would get if this certain boy had money!

I would buy Miss Johnson a skateboard. 100,000 skateboards. I'm a good skater. Are you? And $20,000,000,000 house all together. and fish and big tv and a dog and cat and zoo and a shark and a BIG bed and a black (he didn't finish what was black...i'll take it) and a alien and E.T. and a flag and a school.

I feel loved!

Zest

One day a student of mine, a sweet little girl, walked up to me and handed me a stack of papers. After looking through them, I found they were recipes. She had some time and thought it would be fun cut some out and then, lovingly share them with me. (my kids are funny) Surprisingly I found a few recipes to try out. Last Saturday I decided to make a tomato / spinach strata. It actually was delicious. We used Jarlsberg cheese, which I hadn't cooked with before. I also used this baking excursion to buy some cute small white souffle cups. The directions asked for the cheese to be grated. I looked in our drawer and found what I thought was a grater. So i grated. And grated. And grated. And grated. I got the job done, but it did take quite some time! I found out later I was using a zester board. Funny. Here I was feeling accomplished with my cooking and made such a silly mistake. Anna went out the next day and bought me an actual cheese grater. Keeps my humble!

Give Thanks

I am so excited. My sister, who couldn't come out for Thanksgiving, now can! I haven't seen her since July. Too long! I haven't updated forever, really. Much has happened. Maybe we'll get caught up. I went home for about a month. I had a garage sale. My grandmother, who had been struggling with cancer went home to be with God. I spent a lot of time with the Kinzer family, remembering my grandma! I bought a car. I did a photo shoot with my sister in SD (as in south dakota, not san diego). I visited our old friends in Gregory, SD. I spent a lovely day with the trimble family. I hung out with Iris. I ate fresh veggies from the garden. I turned 25. I went to California to visit my friend Danielle. I've healed some. I do have lots of pictures, but there's not space. I shall try to be better! I began a new blog more focused on things that are inspiring me! Check it out!!

goldfish & sourpatch

I love roadtrips. they are the best. except for the whole driving part. sometimes i'd rather not. but when there is adventure involved, it rocks. but for those trips that just seem to go on for hours (like traveling through wyoming, nebraska, or kansas) there is a solution. it is goldfish and sour patch kids. there is nothing so delectable. if you're feeling crazy try the flavor blasted goldfish. caution: they leave your fingers really cheesy. i don't enjoy licking my fingers, so i just like plain ol cheddar flavor. go with your gut though and don't be overwhelmed by the many options in the goldfish eisle. make a pro/con list if necessary. because this is a big deal. if need be, look up all the available flavors before you actually go to the store and make a list of your top three (just in case your number one isn't in stock...would'nt want a breakdown in the snack foods). now, the real question is what size of sour patch kids do you want? i go for the 4 lb. bag, but i did discover (quite relectantly) that this little box of sour patch kids has a better flavor than the huge bag ones. they also have a mid size bag and a little individual size. another warning, if you eat too many of these little guys, be prepared to get sores in your mouth. all the sour stuff just goes crazy sometimes and it can be a little umcomfortable. anyways, if you're going on a roadtrip, give these a try. you won't be dissappointed. peace.

June 24

June 23

Love is a choice. Love is an action. As the movie Dan in Real Life says, Love is also an ability. All earthly relationships take work. So too, my relationship with God. It takes work. It takes choices, action, and ability. And in the hard times when I don't feel God, and I don't understand, and it seems like He is silent I can make a choice to love God. When the desire isn't there, and I'm not on a "honeymoon stage" or feel "on fire," or even in place I can be used. When I feel I'm just here surviving....when my heart begins to fail, I can learn to willfully love God.
So, like David, I WILL....
I WILL give thanks to the LORD with all my heart;
I WILL tell of all Your wonders;
I WILL be glad and exult in You;
I WILL sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
(Psalm 9:1-2)
......even when there's no want.

I eat breakfast most mornings. Cereal is the food of choice. I like Cracklin Oat Bran cereal. Even though I think it looks a little like horse feed.

churches have nuns, cowboys got guns and everyone's waiting to die

so the past few days have been kinda crazy. my boyfriend came to visit me and we had some fun times. here is a list of things we did (all ending in failure)
-we played twister in walmart's parking lot w/ joy, luis, and arturo (we got eaten by mosquitoes and it wasn't very fun)
- david lost his phone in walmart while trying to find a sandwich cooker thing
-we started a fire to cook the sandwich things...we did finally get it, but then it started raining
- david stayed in the rain to cook the sandwich...it got burnt
- we were going to see year one, but we looked it up and there was tons of sketchy stuff so we decided to red box slumdog millionaire...it wasn't there. no worries though cuz joy had a membership to movie gallery
- we went to mcdonalds around 4 am b/c david wanted a milkshake...they don't serve them at that time, they don't serve mocha's either
- we put pennies on the train tracks...too bad it was dark and we couldn't find them.
EXCITING HUH?!?!?!

i also dropped my phone and the screen broke. i'm still using it b/c i can read half the screen. yes is is ridiculous.

i had a dramatic mon. night. i saw this big black blob move across the floor as i was watching tv. i turned on the light and there was this ginormous spider. i didn't know what to do w/ it. it was too big to squish and i wasn't gunna pick it up...i went upstairs to get my dad, but it was midnight and i didn't want to wake him up. stinkin david told me to use windex...but i am not my sister. when i got back downstairs the spider was gone. i went on a search. when i finally found it, i kinda freaked out b/c i wasn't expecting to see it. i got a big hairspray lid and trapped it. i put a heavy flashlight on top and waited til the morning when i asked my dad to kill it. he was surprised at how big it was. i wasn't exaggerating...my dad, who can do one handed push ups and fears nothing, said "whoa, it is big" no worries, he got toilet paper, picked up that thing and flushed it down the toilet. yes, it was big.

i watched amazing grace. it wasn't too bad. it was different than i thought it was gunna be. i wasn't paying attention the whole time though b/c i was looking up recipes b/c i feel like making something. i think i found a delicious recipe for a mocha ice cream cake thing. this morning i returned to my love, the chariot. they most definitely rocked my face off. i forgot how much i loved them. everything about them is great. plus i figured out something wonderful. there is a girl singing along on one of there songs and it just came to me this morning, could that be hailey williams, my current favorite girl singer? after a bit of research i found it to be true. just another reason to love them. today i also got my hair trimmed, paid my car registration, and got my hair stuck in the back of my blow dryer...i'm still not sure how it happened. yes, life is crazy.
